Smart Chamber USB Communication

You can communicate with the Smart Chamber three different ways: Ethernet, Wifi, or USB. Ethernet and Wifi are the most common, but if a LI-COR Trace Gas Analyzer is connected to the Smart Chamber and you cannot use Wifi, then you will need to use USB. It should act like a simulated Ethernet connection—your computer should automatically download an RNDIS driver (Remote Network Driver Interface Specification) to support “USB over Ethernet”. But if you are still unable to communicate with the Smart Chamber, your computer may not be treating it like an RNDIS connection. You will need to download and install an RNDIS driver to resolve the issue. Follow these steps for Windows computers:

  1. Download the RNDIS driver from the LI-COR website here: https://licor.app.boxenterprise.net/s/vvhru5dy2rekcv99vm88h3er3y9kefly
  2. Unzip the file. Right-click on the .INF file and select Install. You should receive a notification that the operation completed successfully.
  3. Open Device Manager. This can be found in the Control Panel. Expand the Network Adapters list.
  4. Connect the USB-B to USB-A cable that came with the instrument (part number) between the Smart Chamber and the computer. The USB-B side connects to the chamber.
  6. You should see that a new entry has appeared under Network Adapters, labeled “LICOR Remote NDIS6 based Device.”
  8. Now you can go to a browser and type in the serial number of the chamber (http://82s-nnnn.local), just like you would for an Ethernet connection.
  10. If that still does not work, type the IP address 10.0.0.90 into the browser, and the connection should work like an Ethernet connection.
